I stumbled from his fast pace, and without a word, Blaze knelt and lifted me into his arms. I clung to his neck. “Someone please let Jonah know to be careful,” I begged. If he got caught and arrested, I’d lose my mind. I needed him.

He was the sand my waves could crash against and somehow calm down.

“He’ll be fine,” Blaze told me. “You, however, are not.”

I sighed.

Jonah

I knew something was wrong when I saw Blaze rush for the fucking warehouse, speaking into his mouthpiece. But I still wasn’t prepared for the sight that met my eyes when I pushed open that fucking bathroom door.

Montana was bleeding, the left side of her face badly cut up, handprints around her throat that I knew would leave bruises.

I was on a goddamn rampage, and I wasn’t going home to my woman until Jayden was dealt with. Because like fuck was he going to continue breathing after what the fuck he’d just done to her.

I was so goddamn sick and tired of everyone using my woman as a fucking punching bag. That shit ended tonight.

I quietly made my way through the parking lot, my feet not making any noise on the pavement. I spotted Jayden from the shadows beneath a random tree. He was trying to get into his car when I caught up to him. I didn’t waste a fucking beat.

I shoved his face down on the roof, spun him around, and began bashing my fists into his face. He was knocked out cold within no time. And for good fucking measure, I twisted his head, snapping his neck.

I’d never taken a life before, but fucking hell, I was so done with this shit. I could place money on it that Montana had been minding her own fucking business when he’d barged in that fucking bathroom on her.

My phone rang, and I pulled it out of my pocket. Blaze’s name was on the screen.

“What?” I grunted.

“Two of my men are on their way to you. Let them get rid of the body and the car. Cameras are wiped. They’ll handle clean up. Montana is worried sick about you and wants you here.”

I sighed. “I need to clean up first, and I’ll head your way. Where are you at?” I asked, heading back to the warehouse so I could wash up my hands. I also had blood splatter on my shirt.

“Matthews,” he informed me. He grunted. “Hold on.”

It sounded like the phone was being passed before Montana came on the line. “Jonah?”

I smiled a little, the anger in my body coming down to a simmer at the sound of her voice. “Hey, baby girl. How are you feeling?”

“My face and throat hurt, but I’ll deal. Did you do anything stupid?”

I hummed. “Nah, baby girl,” I lied.

She snorted. “Work on your lying skills.” I rolled my eyes. She sighed softly. “You coming this way?”

I smiled. Fuck, I loved it when she was like this, and I hoped that as time went on, she’d continue letting me and Blaze in more and more. She was showing us that she needed us. And while, yeah, I knew there’d be more low days, I had a feeling we’d be able to get through them easier.

“Yeah, babe. I’m coming that way. I’ll see you in a bit,” I promised.

She hung up the phone, and I pocketed mine before pushing open the door to the bathroom. Once my hands were clean, I headed to my car so I could get to Montana. She wanted me there, and I wouldn’t keep my woman waiting any longer than I had to.

When I got to Matthew’s, Montana was sitting on Blaze’s lap, straddling him, and Matthew was stitching her face. I arched a brow at the scene. John grunted, his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the wall. “She refused pain medication, so Blaze is trying to distract her,” he explained.

Montana hissed a breath through her teeth, her hands tightening on Blaze’s shoulders. He gripped her waist tighter, grounding her. I walked behind him so she could see me. “Hey, baby girl,” I greeted.

A tight smile pulled at her lips in response. “Almost done,” Matthew assured her. “Just hang in there a little while longer.”

Her fingers tightened on Blaze’s shoulders again. I covered her hands with mine. When Matthew was done, she finally relaxed. Blaze tugged her closer to him, pressing his lips to hers. “Good girl. Took that like a fucking pro.”

She groaned. “Stitches always hurt worse than the actual injury.”

I leaned over Blaze’s shoulder and pressed my lips to hers. She sighed into the kiss, eagerly kissing me back. When I parted our lips, she arched a brow at me. “There’s blood on your t-shirt.”

I just shrugged, not giving her an answer. She rolled her eyes. “I’m not a kid, Jonah. I can take it.”
