He reaches out and grabs her arm, but this time, he uses both hands so she can’t pull away.

That’s it, I think, as I open the car door and step out. You’re going to regret that, pal. You’ve just dug your own grave.

Blake

I can hear my heartbeat in my ears as I walk quickly across the street. A car screeches to a halt, and the driver sticks his head out the window to shout at me, but when he sees who I am, his face goes white, and he shuts his mouth. He slides back into his seat and waits for me to pass before stepping on the gas and moving on.

It’s only a few more steps before I reach their table. Christ, she’s even more beautiful up close. She’s an absolute vision of beauty. But she’s upset right now with this man’s hands on her wrist. How can he not see it?

Either he doesn’t, or he doesn’t care. Either way, he’s going to learn right now to respect her.

“So what I’m saying,” the guy is whispering, sounding like a pathetic slime ball, “is that we’re both horny, right? Why pretend otherwise–?”

“Hands off,” I bark. The volume of my voice gets the man’s attention. He turns around, and when he sees me, he instantly lets go of his date’s wrist. She quickly pulls her arm back across the table and hides it in her lap.

“Oh, shit,” the man whispers. “Sir, I didn’t mean to—I…I…”

“Shut up,” I growl.

Where is all this anger coming from? The girl sitting across from him is just a girl. I’ve never even met her. I haven’t seen her before now. Why do I even care?

But there’s something going on inside of me right now that has kicked my protective instincts into overdrive, and I am feeling absolutely ferocious.

I turn to the girl. Her eyes are bright and wide and looking at me in a way I haven’t felt in so long.

“What’s your name?” I ask her.

“Anna,” she says with a voice like music. Her bottom lip quivers. Is she just going to be another girl who’s afraid of me like the rest? Is she going to say yes, sir and no, sir when I interact with her?

Or is there going to be more to her? Deep down, for some reason, I believe there’s more to her.

“Anna,” I reply. “This man’s bothering you, isn’t he?”

Anna looks back at me with hesitance. She knows who I am, but I smile with my eyes and assure her that she’s okay.

“It’s fine. Speak honestly. Is this man bothering you?”

She glances at her date, then back to me and nods. “Yes.”

Her date lets out a heavy sigh. “What the fuck–?”

I snap my fingers at him, and he shuts his mouth. I turn my eyes on him. “You. What’s your name?”

“Trevor,” he replies. “And how am I bothering you, Anna?”

“Trevor,” I interrupt, leaning over him with one hand on the table, cutting Anna out of his eyeline. “If the young lady says you’re bothering her, you’re bothering her. Understand?”

Trevor swallows hard and nods. “Y-yes.”

“Now you know who I am, right?”

“You’re Blake Lockwood.”

I smile. “That’s right. Now I’m going to give you one chance to walk out of here and make it home tonight, Trevor. You’d like to get home tonight, wouldn’t you?”

Blake nods even more adamantly. “Yes, sir!”

“Good,” I say, picking up his steak knife from beside his plate. His eyes go wide, and he leans back in his seat. I twirl it in my hand and catch it so the tip is pointing straight at his jugular vein.

Just then, the waiter emerges from the restaurant. He sees me and instantly freezes.

“Mr. Lockwood,” he says, his voice low. I glance over at him and give him a look letting him know to relax. He stands still where he is, and I turn my attention back to Trevor.

“Now listen, you. What I want you to do is apologize to Anna here. And then I want you to pay the bill, get up and leave, and never contact her again. Understand?”

“Y-yes of course!” Trevor replies, his voice quivering like a leaf on a windy day. “No problem, Mr. Lockwood.”

I motion for the waiter to come over as Trevor, the pathetic bastard, immediately starts scrambling for his wallet. I keep hold of the knife but turn and glance back over my shoulder at Anna and give her a little grin.

She returns it, and it’s like the entire world lights up. Her face would have been sculpted by the Greeks.

Her body is making me hungry.

I can’t wait to get my hands on her and strip her naked. Get inside her and thrust with all I have to give.

Trevor may be wearing some trendy ripped jeans and a tasteless oversized T-shirt, but Anna is wrapped in a sexy baby-blue dress that shows off every one of her mouthwatering curves. It’s clearly not expensive, but she’s wearing it like it came from Prada today.
