“Oh, no one is listening. I want to hear the dirt! How did it go?” Nella asks excitedly.

“Actually, it went surprisingly well,” I admit with a smile.

“See? I told you, sometimes City Girls delivers when you least expect it. Was your client cute?”

I grin. “Cute is the understatement of the century. My client was handsome and soooo sexy. OMG, I still can’t get over it.”

Nella nods with understanding. “Oh, I used to just love it when I’d get a really gorgeous client. Men in New York can be so handsome when they’re in those tailored suits.”

I nod. “You would have swooned over Brent,” I say.

“Brent? So, are we on a first-name basis, already? Sansa, did you sleep with your client last night?” I smile mischievously at her quick realization.

“That obvious, huh?” I joke with her.

She shakes her head at me with a smile. “You’re like a teenage girl sometimes, Sans. But tell me more. So was he big? Did you do it?” she asks in a hushed voice. I nod.

“Plus, he paid ten grand for the privilege,” I confide to my friend. Even Nell’s impressed.

“Good god, girlfriend! Did you have to work for it?”

“Hell yeah!” I giggle. “What girl wouldn’t? I gave him front and back holes, and he kept me up until dawn. Trust me, I made it worth every penny.”

Nella nods, impressed. “So how are you feeling now?”

I grin. “Other than achy and sore from all that hard loving?”

Nella snorts while laughing. “Oh shit, you’re such a dirty girl, Sansa.”

I flop back on my recliner.

“I know, but it was totally worth it. I wish I could do it again.”

“Really? Was he that good?” Nella squeals, causing Paul to look over at us. Fortunately, Paul knows that his wife used to be an escort, so it’s not a big deal. He can probably guess what we’re gabbing about.

“Nell, I can’t even describe it to you. I literally forgot I was escorting because it was the best sex I’ve ever had. He just knew how to touch me, and trust me, that man is a filthy one.”

She gets a glint to her eye.

“Yeah, but so are you, girlfriend. Uh-huh, Sans, I know you, and you can’t hide it, but honestly, I’m so happy for you! What a way to go out with a bang! I’m glad you had an amazing last night because that’s what you deserve. It’s the best way to end a career, and you’ve got so much excitement coming with A Mouthful of Sweets, right?”

I hesitate.

“Well, there might be more,” I say in a diffident voice.

My friend cocks her head at me. “More? What do you mean? You aren’t quitting City Girls?” she asks, confused.

“No, I’m quitting City Girls, but see, Brent had a proposal for me.” Nella’s brows go up.

“Oh really? What did he propose?”

“Marriage,” I say in a matter-of-fact tone. My friend sets down her drink and takes off her sunglasses. Spinning in her seat to face me, her jaw is slack, but then she begins to laugh.

“You’re kidding, right?” she finally sputters. “Marriage? You must be joking. You know that I met Paul while I was working as an escort, but really, it was just a job. I never serviced him as a client, and now you’ve gotten a marriage proposal? That seems weird, not to mention sudden.”

The kids are calling for their mom to ‘watch what they can do’ in the background, but Nella pays them no mind, which is out of character for her. Instead, she’s staring at me with one brow quirked. “So?”

I sigh.

“It’s a little complicated. Apparently, Brent booked this date because he’s looking for a fake bride. His dad said he can’t become CEO of the family company until he settles down, so all he wants is a quickie marriage and then a quickie divorce. He said hiring a pro makes it easier.”

Nella thinks, nodding.

“Well, I understand that logic. But what do you get out of it? Are you seriously thinking about taking the offer?”

I nod slowly.

“Actually, I am because he offered to invest in my candy store in exchange for a fake marriage.”

“Whoa whoa whoa, that’s a wild scenario,” Nella says, dumbfounded. “How much though? Did he put a number on it?”

I pause because Brent whispered a number into my ear this morning while he was deep inside me, making me an offer while drugging me with his passion.

“Two million dollars.”

Sansa gapes at me.

“Are you for real?”

“I know, it’s crazy, right?”

“It is, but it’s good because it means you’ll have two million to do whatever you want with. I mean, girl, you could take this money and just keep it if you want. If you change your mind about A Mouthful of Sweets, then the money can just stay in your bank account.”

“I know,” I muse. “I mentioned that possibility to Brent, and he said he was okay with it. The money’s mine, with no strings.”
