“I know it and I love that kid, even if he does have a smart mouth.”

“It’s going to be hard to leave the farm often.”

He nodded. “I know. This place comes first but I reserve the right to hire farmhands if I want to take my girl out. Or if we want to do a family thing with Ev. Deal?”

I nodded easily. “As long as you talk to me first.”

“I will,” he said and brushed a soft, quick kiss to my lips. “Are you done trying to scare me off now?”

I smiled so wide my cheeks ached. “I think so.”

“Good,” he growled and kissed me. He really kissed me like at the end of one of those romantic movies. It was the kind of kiss you just knew would lead to naked times and hot sex as soon as the screen faded to black and that’s just what I wanted.

The doorbell rang just as that thought took hold and Derek groaned against my lips. “Pizza and wings are here,” Ev called out. “Have you two made up so we can eat? And please tell me you have clothes on.”

“See?” Derek whispered and pressed a kiss to my cheek. “Smart mouth.”

I laughed and gave him a playful shove. “We’re fine and decent, come on in.” I turned back to Derek. “This is my life. It’s full and crazy and there’s rarely a moment of peace.”

“And it’s now our life which sounds pretty damn great to me.”

I didn’t know if this would last but it was a risk worth taking on this man. I had rebuilt my life in my hometown and fallen for my mortal enemy, if that’s not growth I don’t know what the hell is.
