“Don’t ever disrespect my staff again or I’ll break your fucking jaw,” Logan snarls.
“Whoa—chill, Rooster. Little Clover and I are having a conversation. She’s hotter than her cousin. I’m sure you noticed.”
“I said to shut your fucking mouth,” he roars, snarling like a beast. How in the world can that turn me on?
“What are you going to do? You ready to go to jail?” he threatens, standing tall but only reaching Logan’s chin. My boss doesn’t give him an inch as Cara’s boyfriend gets in his face.
“I have cameras in this bitch with audio. No one’s going to blame me when you’re sexually harassing my employee. I’ll have your badge.”
He looks around the room, trying to see if Logan’s bullshitting, but he spots the two cameras facing his way. He stands, drops a twenty on the table, and leaves with his coworker. “You’re a little bitch.”
“Don’t come back. Come after me and I’ll destroy you, understand?” Logan whispers to that prick. A glimmer of fear spreads across his face before he fixes his expression and storms out. I blush, knowing everyone is looking at us.
“Taking out the trash. Good job,” the man I remember from yesterday says, tossing Logan a wink. “Remember what I said,” he adds, leaving the restaurant.

“Clover, my office, now,” I grunt. I’m pissed because everyone saw that moment of weakness. I hold the door to my office open, waiting for her to come inside. I acted like an ogre out there and yet, I can’t say I wouldn’t do it again. The idea of anyone speaking to Clover that way pisses me off. He knew damn well what he was doing and will pay for it later.
“Yes, sir.” Her voice is just above a whisper and she looks scared, covering her mouth. I grit my teeth, attempting to behave like a respectable business owner, but something about her calling me sir shoots straight to my dick.
“What did I say about the sir?” I ask, crowding her a little more than I should.
“Only in your bed.” She doesn’t take a step back like she should in this situation. Instead, she looks at me with longing, which makes me think she’s interested. I shake it off because it’s not the time or place to delve deeper into the attraction between us.
With a tilt of my chin upward, I ask, “So, tell me—are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” She blushes, biting on her lip. “I’m just sorry that I caused a scene out there.”
“You didn’t cause anything. It was him.”
“Still, it’s my fault he even said anything to me today.” There’s something she’s not telling me.
“Why would you say that?” I want her to confide in me, but it’s not my right to demand it.
“I accidentally walked in on him in the shower this morning.”
“What?” I snarl, losing control. I’m itching to go out and look for him and beat him like he deserves. Taking a calming breath, I continue. “Please explain.”
“When my alarm went off, I went to the bathroom. The door was open, so I walked in and he was naked in the shower. I rushed out as soon as I could, and then he turned on the shower. Afterward, I dressed in the kitchen and left before he got out. Then when I pulled up to the restaurant, I was fixing my hair and makeup. When I got out of the car, he was there. It scared me because he’d knew where to find me, and he was talking dirty.”
“That’s why you were so flustered this morning.” I’m going to kill him for sure now. She saw that asshole naked, and then he followed her here. The sick fuck is after my woman. She’s not my woman no matter how much I want her, and I need to shake that shit out of my head.
“Yes, but I’m fine. I’ll remember to stay away from him.”
“What was he doing in your cousin’s shower?”
“I think he’s her boyfriend.”
“Then how the fuck are you supposed to avoid him?” He’ll be there every chance he gets to accost Clover.
“I don’t know, but I’ll tell my cousin about it and hopefully he won’t come back. It’s not like I can find somewhere else to live in a day.”
“You could stay with me.” Bad move. Shit. She’s just gone from one asshole to another, but I don’t trust she’ll be safe without me.
She gives me a weak smile that tells me I’ve gone too far. “That’s not a good idea either. You’re my boss, and people will get the wrong impression.”
“I suppose you have a point. Just be careful, and if you need help, all you have to do is call.”
“Okay. I better get out there before people start talking.” She turns on her heel and leaves my office. I slam my hand on the desk, feeling violent as fuck. My sweet girl doesn’t know the depths these sick fucks will go to when it comes to young pussy. She’s new in town and already in their sights. I need to watch her closely, but she doesn’t trust me just yet.
