“You said she was your sister,” the woman says, her face scrunching in horror.

At any other time, this situation would be utterly hilarious.

“She’s not. Don’t leave. I’ll be right back.”

What?

What the hell is he doing?

Jagger reaches down and hauls me to my feet and then, without another word, drags me out of the room and back to my own. He shoves me in, his face so tight and emotionless it’s terrifying. I take a shaky step back toward my bed, watching him. He looks to me. “You ever fuckin’ do that again, I’ll kill you myself.”

With that, he slams the door closed.

What the hell just happened?

JAGGER TAKES MY FREEDOM away.

For the next two days someone else feeds me and he keeps the room locked.

He’s making sure I know where he stands.

He’s making sure I know that what happened will never happen again.

He’s reminding me I’m the prisoner here.

As the third day since I’ve seen him looms, I can feel something slowly creeping into my body. A sickness. It’s hard to pinpoint, but it starts with a dull ache in my bones that quickly turns into a headache, and by the morning I’m so sick I can’t move. Sweat coats my body as I wake from my slumber, and even though I’m soaked, I’m also freezing cold. Struggling to sit up, I push to my feet and slowly crumple to the floor, weak.

I need help.

I drag my body over to the door and begin slowly pounding on it, my broken, croaky voice barely loud enough to make a sound. It takes a few minutes, but eventually, the door opens and Jagger walks in, then stops dead when he sees me lying pitifully on the floor. His eyes narrow as they rake over me and he leans down, getting a better look.

“Are you sick?”

I open my mouth to answer him, but everything hurts so badly I can’t form words. My mouth is dry, my head is pounding and my entire body feels as though I’ve been hit by a truck. I grip my head and groan, and, with a concerned expression, he leans down and places his hand against my forehead.

“Fuck,” he mutters.

I groan again, and my world begins to spin. Jagger leans down and in one, swift movement, lifts me off the floor and places me down on the bed. He puts his hand on my head again and then turns and leaves the room. He’s back a moment later with a cool cloth and some pain killers. I swallow them greedily, only to wince in pain when they slide down my raw throat.

“They’ll help your fever.”

“I need a doctor,” I croak, rolling to my side, trying to relieve the pain.

“You know I can’t do that. Get some rest, the painkillers will help, I’ll be back shortly.”

He leaves. The cold-hearted asshole leaves.

The painkillers don’t work, and the shivering becomes so intense I can’t stop the chattering of my teeth as I try desperately to get warm by pulling the big blanket over my body. By the time Jagger returns a few hours later, my bed is soaked in sweat and I’m drifting in and out of consciousness. The voices of Angel, Ace, and Snake can be heard as they chatter amongst themselves, but I’m only able to make out bits and pieces.

“If she dies, we could be in more trouble than it’s worth,” Ace says. “We’ve got to do somethin’, boss.”

“We can’t take her to a hospital,” Snake snaps. “If we take her to a hospital, we’re done for.”

“We can’t let her fucking die either,” Jagger growls. “There has to be an option here. Clearly she’s fuckin’ sick.”

“Call your sister.”

That’s Angel.

Wait, Jagger has a sister?

“She’ll flip if she knows we’ve been keeping a girl prisoner.”

“It’s the only option, Jagger. It’s that or you take her to the hospital. The call is yours,” Angel says, and then they all go quiet.

Or I pass out.

I must, because I’m woken to Jagger leaning on the bed, his hands on my face. My eyes flutter open and I stare up at him, vision blurry.

“My sister is coming, she’s a doctor. You can’t tell her why you’re here. If you want me to help you, Willow, then you need to do as I’m asking. You tell her you’re my girlfriend. You know what I’ll do if you don’t, so please ... just tell her that.”

He said please.

Maybe I am hallucinating.

I don’t care what he tells her, I just want relief for this pain.

I nod weakly, and either I’m dreaming or he runs his hand over my forehead, pausing for a second, his thumb stroking over my skin.

I must be imagining things.

I close my eyes and exhale, just as the door opens and voices fill the room. A woman’s voice stands out the most, and I open my eyes to see a beautiful woman with raven black hair, green eyes, and fair skin walking in. She’s gorgeous, absolutely stunning. Not that I expected any less considering she’s related to him.
